Guests arrive by a footbridge suspended over the Mkulumadzi River to discover a friendly welcome and many home comforts.
Accommodation
The perfect combination of luxury and isolation, Mkulumadzi boasts eight superb chalets set on the banks of the Shire River, shaded by giant leadwood trees and wild mangos.
The chalets comprise of eight chalets, two of which (those adjacent to the main area) are suitable for either a family or two couples travelling together. The decor is contemporary and fresh, with depth of character provided by the profusion of local touches: colourful cushions, walls of local stone, various textures and hues of local wood and tasteful lighting.
Again, great care has been taken to blur the borders between in and out, so that expansive and uninterrupted views can be appreciated from the comfort of the bedroom itself. All the chalets have en-suite facilities with private outdoor showers, a lounge and a large private viewing deck where guests can sit back and marvel at the sights and south of the river.

The lodge has a restaurant with indoor and outdoor dining, a lounge and terrace, a bar and shop, swimming pool, viewing deck and a lapa for evening campfires.
The restaurant that offers private tables. In-room dining can also be arranged. Afternoon tea is served on the terrace and – a recurring highlight for guests – evening dinner is served beneath the stars. Service is wonderful.

The swimming pool at Mkulumadzi Lodge offers guests a tranquil environment to relax and unwind after a day spent exploring the stunning surroundings.
Guests can relish breathtaking views of the local wildlife while enjoying refreshing drinks and basking in the sun.
Star Bed
Spend the night on an exclusive raised star-deck gazing at the twinkling galaxes above us, far from the bright lights of the city. A truly unique and unforgettable experience on the star-deck can host a maximum of two people.
The cozy set-up includes a double bed with cotton linen, bedside tables, and canopy mosquito net, lanterns and seating, perfect for sharing with someone special in the stunnning natural paradise.

Experiences
Mkulumadzi Lodge is the perfect jumping – off point for a range of activities including expert walking safari and game drives, as well as boat -trips on the Shire River just above the Kapichira Falls.
Game drives and walking safaris are offered in the mornings and late afternoons, giving guests plenty of time to relax beside the pool, gaze at the resident bird population or listen to the grunt of hippos wallowing in the river.
Bird Watching
Majete offers a great bird watching experience. The reserve is home to over 300 bird species and is home to four species of vulture and there is a big concentration of the bateleur eagle to mention just a few.
Enjoy a dedicated birding drive in an open-air game viewing vehicle with a specialist bird guide to see some of the 300 species in the reserve.
