
Situated on the beautiful lake shore of Malawi in its very own cove with tropical gardens and abundant bird and butterfly life. Makuzi Beach is a family-owned business since 1993. The Lodge was built using local materials and expertise as an eco-friendly paradise. Over the years Makuzi has incredibly established gardens full of exotic fruits, spices and plants, plus own vegetable and herb gardens.

Chalets
The lodge provides guests with a superb, secluded retreat, sandy white beaches and wonderful views across Africaโs third largest lake. Thatched and stone chalets are nestled in lush manicured gardens overlooking the crystal-clear waters of the lake. Sipping a cocktail or enjoying one of the chefโs infamous meals from the deck of the main lodge is an experience in itself. Makuzi enjoys an excellent reputation for its cuisine and guests are encouraged to enjoy a full African dining experience under the stars. The relaxed lakeshore retreat with its 11 cozy chalets, is a perfect family property with a well-deserved reputation for warm hospitality and great facilities.
Your privacy, relaxation and personal lake view is important to us and is found in one of our 4 standard chalets, 3 superior chalets, 1 family cottage, 1self catering cottage and camp site. All our spaces are gauzed and have 4 poster mosquito nets, fans and tea/coffee making facilities.
Standard Chalets
These four chalets are en-suite and set in the gardens overlooking the beach. Sleeps 2 with option for an extra bed or bunk bed.


Superior Chalets
One of the 3 superior chalets is set in the gardens along the beach, and the other two chalets are along a path through indigenous forest vegetation.
Totally private from the lodge and built amongst the rocks, with spectacular views of the lake, these chalets have full bathrooms and a mini-bar fridge. Sleeps maximum 2.
Family Chalets
The Cottage has 2 separate bedrooms, both en-suite.
There is one double room with an en-suite with a bath. The second room has 3 single beds and can accommodate a bunk bed if needed. This has an en-suite with a shower.
The lounge is in the center of the two bedrooms with a fridge. Sleeps a maximum of 6.


Cinamon Cottage
Fully self-catering cottage with garden views.
This chalet sleeps 2 adults and 2 children.

The restaurant is of supreme importance to Makuzi, and to any who consider good food a priority.
The kitchen benefits from a wide variety of vegetables, fruits, herbs and spices grown in Rift Lake Spice Co. gardens (on the Makuzi property) and sourced locally.
Fruits and vegetables are dictated by the seasons and caters to any dietary needs.
Menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner catering for all tastes.


Bar
The bar has a stunning, elevated view across the lake and across to Mphandi Kuche Island which translates to โPlace of the Morning Starโ.
This is the perfect place to enjoy the spectacular sunrises, sip away on a sun downer or enjoy star gazing in the evening.

Activities and Experiences
Lake Malawi is renowned for its abundance and diversity of fish life and is home to a greater variety of freshwater fish species than any other lake on Earth and more than all of Europe and North America combined. Activities on offer at Makuzi Beach Lodge include safe swimming, snorkelling, fishing, kayaking, Scuba Diving, (a PADI resort is available off site) yoga, bird-watching, horse-riding on the beach as well as cultural excursions.
When To Visit
Makuzi Beach Lodge is open all year round. The best time to visit will depend on individual interests and preferences.
It offers different benefits depending on the time of year. For example, November to April is great for lush scenery and sunsets, while July to October is ideal for snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing.
